KFMD Station News

_____

August 9, 2026

Work continues with the format change for KFMD.  The mix of Smooth Jazz along with the current News, Talk and Information format will bring some new listeners to the station.  The possibility exists that two or three new weekend talk shows will debut in September at the time of the format change.

We are working on returning the Live Stream to the internet as well.  However this issue is taking a back seat to the work needed to facilitate the format change.

Format and personnel changes are coming to KFMD.  Due to economic conditions, we are not going to launch KWAQ radio this year.  Instead KFMD will continuing airing most of its news, talk and information shows while several hours a day of Smooth Jazz will be launched.  No start date has been planned but it is likely by Labor Day the new format will be on the air.

Also please note that we have a new crew of News Anchors and Meteorologists.  Now Bradford Kingsley and Clyde Rumford will be the primary newscasters while Sonny Night and Misty day will handle the weather forecasting.

Our live stream for KFMD will be down indefinitely.  We determined this was causing the lengthy audio silence.   The automation computer was also sending the audio to the streaming service but a conflict developed from the streaming software that cannot be resolved yet.  We will return to live streaming within the next two months once we determine the best method to resume service.  In the meantime our over the air signal is working fine again.

A complete overhaul of our automation system is now finished.  We hope the technical problems leading to a lot of lengthy periods of dead air is in the past.  Also please note some minor schedule changes.  Vine, Wine and Dine will now air Friday's at 7 PM and Frankie Boyer returns to Friday's at Noon.
